The Face Behind the Light: Why I Started This Journey

When I decided to start this company the name didn't come from a marketing brainstorm or a list of trends. It came from a place of faith and a lifelong journey of finding calm in the middle of a storm.

Be the Light Co. is rooted in Matthew 5:14 which says you are the light of the world and a town built on a hill cannot be hidden. To me that verse is a calling. It is a reminder that even when things feel dark—whether in the world or in our own minds—we have a responsibility to find our inner glow and share it with others.

My sanctuary at the beach

If you look at our designs you will see a lot of sunsets and sunrises and coastal vibes. That isn't just because it looks nice. It is because the ocean is where I go to heal.

I have struggled with anxiety since I was a little kid and even now as an adult I know how heavy that weight can feel. One of the most effective tools I have found to manage it is simply sitting by the water. Watching the waves and witnessing a sunrise helps me breathe again. There is something about the rhythm of the tide and the way the sun shows up every single morning that reminds me I can get through the high seas of my own anxiety too.

Bridging my professional and personal worlds

My career is deeply connected to this mission as well. As a Reading Specialist and educator with certifications in Yoga and Mindfulness and Special Education I spend my life helping others find their way.

I am currently spending a lot of my time studying Social Emotional Learning and focusing on how we can better support struggling readers. My goal is always the same. I want to provide the tools people need to feel supported and seen. I realized I wanted to take all of that—my faith and my love for the coast and my professional background—and wrap it into something you can actually wear.

What we stand for

I created this brand because I believe mental health awareness and mindfulness are for everyone. It is for the child in the classroom and the adult at home.

By wearing these designs you aren't just wearing a shirt. You are wearing a reminder to be the light for yourself when anxiety feels loud and to be the light for others who might be struggling. We can all learn to trust the rhythm just like the waves do.
